Evening Lions to Host Coronation Dinner Honoring Old Timers Day Royalty

A highlight of the dinner celebration will be the coronation of the Old Timers Day Queen, Ila Schoettler. Mrs. Schoettler has been known as Madera royalty. She has given of her time to many local organizations and supported numerous causes leaving a positive impact on our community and has been a role model to many.

Leading this year’s parade as Grand Marshall will be a long-time business owner, Dennis Smith of General Builders Supply (GBS). Over the years, Dennis has given his time to numerous causes and was a longtime member of the Madera Kiwanis Club and served as Chairman of the Board for the Madera Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s memorial honoree will be in honor of longtime downtown Madera business owner Jeff Cerioni. A proud third-generation business owner, Jeff carried on his family legacy through Cerioni’s Men’s and Ladies Wear located in downtown Madera. He was a member of many organizations over the years including the Madera Downtown Association, the Madera Chamber of Commerce.

This year a new honoree category, the “Madera Young Trailblazer”, has been added. The inaugural recipient is R.C. Chahal, who has played an integral role in the success of Madtown Robotics Team 1323, helping lead the team to an impressive four World Championship titles.
